President's Report

Dan Root
MNASCOE President

We have established the dates for our state convention and more details will be coming soon.  I want to bring you all up to speed as to what we know to date.

The convention will be held on July 22 and 23 at the Holiday Inn, Alexandria.  This is the same place as last year and there are a couple reasons for this.   The first one being the STO is planning a managers meeting in conjunction with our convention.  It sounds like the managers meeting will be scheduled from noon to noon on  the 20th to 22nd of July.  The second reason is it is centrally located.   I am hoping to get a good turnout this year.

We have a block of 75 rooms reserved for July 22nd and here are the hotel details:
Holiday Inn Alexandria
Room Rate: $70.00 per night
Block of room reserved till June 24th
Phone number: 320-763-6577 - ask for MACS/MNASCOE Block

I would also like to plan a few other activities for convention attendees.  Here are some of what we have planned so far:

1.  I am sure there will be a Golf outing at the local golf course.  We will have to work out the details of this and get that out to     everyone ASAP
2.  We have reserved the Bowling Alley in Alex for bowling on Thursday night. Again more details to come.
3.  I would like to set up a couple possible tours or things for others to do Thursday afternoon while the golfing is going on.  So if anyone has ideas let us know.  We could do the wine tour again but for those who did that last year might want to do something else.
4.  Hospitality Room - for after bowling - just a thought.  I know in the past we have had DJ's so we could keep that in mind also. But if we bowl, there might not be time for a DJ.
5.  We need silent auction items and door prizes - keep this in mind.

I would like to challenge each BoD to make a concerted effort this year to encourage attendance to the state convention.  As soon as we get more details put together I want to make a push to membership and the MNASCOE Officers will need all your help doing this.  I would like to get back to the day when we had big turnouts attending - we need to get the enthusiasm back.

I need volunteers for the following.  If no one volunteers, I will be making phone calls.

1.  To handle the Door prizes and silent auction items
2.  To handle and take care of the Hospitality Room
3.  To work with MACS on the Golf Outing
4.  To work with Ben Fast on the Bowling
5.  To work with Carol on Registration
6.  To work on tours

If you're interested let me know by the end of next week.
There will be more to come soon!

Thanks and have a great day,
Dan Root - MNASCOE Pres.
